Obamney

It is looking more likely with each passing day that Mitt Romney will end up as the Republican presidential nominee. Romney is widely seen as the only electable candidate in the Republican field; this is his sole appeal. Romney’s supporters assume his political positions are inherently different from those of Barack Obama simply because Romney belongs to the Republicans and Obama to the Democrats. However, this assumption, based solely on political rhetoric, is patently false given Romney’s support of countless liberal/progressive undertakings including the insufferable TARP bailouts.  Romney has shown us repeatedly that he DOES NOT believe in small government principles and is willing to sacrifice our liberties on a whim.
Let us consider for a moment what it truly means to be a conservative Republican.
Historically, Republicans have been the leading party in the progress of liberty and freedom; Republicans have always supported limited-government and fiscal responsibility. Whereas, the Democrats have been consistently in favor of a comprehensive, all-powerful Federal government that is involved in every aspect of life.
Yet, over the past twenty or thirty years, the GOP platform has changed drastically.
The establishment-type leaders of the Republican Party have essentially morphed the GOP into a big-government progressive political party that bears close resemblance to its Democratic opposition.
In essence, the American people have one choice in every political election. They can elect either a progressive Republican or a progressive Democrat. There are no profound differences between the two parties.
Romney’s progressive positions:
1.      Romney’s Massachusetts health-care mandate is the blueprint for the overwhelmingly unpopular Obamacare insurance program.
2.  Romney was one of many Republican supporters of the failed stimulus bill during the ’09 recession.
3.  Romney, as recently stated in a recent Republican presidential debate, would have signed into law the NDAA bill that authorizes the US military the power of indefinitely detaining American citizens without providing their due process rights.
4. Romney has made clear his support of American militarism around the world, and the occupation of sovereign nations.
5. Romney supports strict gun-control laws that infringe upon our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.
